A Journey in Accounting and Law

Marilyn Charles earned her degree in accounting at Bentley College of Accounting & Finance, sponsored by her employer, a CPA firm in Boston, Massachusetts. “I paid my dues”, she said, after two and a half tax seasons.

She also held private positions as a controller for a medical healthcare group provider and a commercial real estate firm, and as a project accounting manager for an agricultural engineering firm.

After relocating to Miami, she started up a computerized service with her own computer and accounting program for CPA’s and Tax Attorney clients, which was very successful. When QuickBooks put a new spin on her work, she advanced with the Intuit ProAdvisor program to platinum status in order to maintain the latest accounting technology.

During her early years, she also held a side job at the Flynn Cruise Port Boston, developing her involment in the cruise industry which she has maintained for working associations and relationships at the Port of Miami throughout the years.

After leading ProBooks for 25 years, she redesigned her practice using her legal knowledge. Due to the post-pandemic explosion of AI automation of workflow processes, communications, and security measures her focus shifted. She also adopted a standard suite of tools. Creating a niche in law was an easy choice for her, since it allowed her to devise better solutions for Law Firm administrative challenges. She leveraged her skill set based on accepted accounting principles.

The sweet spot of her practice lies in adapting workflow efficiencies to align with the firm’s culture and management style, while effectively reaching the ideal client!
